Discover Marrakech, Morocco's ochre city

Presentation of Marrakech:

Marrakech is a city in central Morocco, at the foot of the Atlas Mountains. It's known as the "city of ochre" because of the crimson color of many of its houses and dwellings.
The city was founded in 1071 by Youssef Ben Tachfine, leader of the Almoravid Berber empire. Marrakech is Morocco's third-largest city, after Casablanca, Rabat and Fez.

Marrakech is a pearl polished by history and a taste for hospitality, divided into two distinct parts: the Medina or historic city and the new town.

• Place Jamâa El Fna is a famous public square in the southwest of Marrakech's medina. It's the lively heart of the city, a traditional and popular venue that attracts more and more visitors every year.
• The Koutoubia mosque, a religious edifice built in the 12th century.
• The Medersa Ben Youssef, a historic monument of Islamic art built in the 16th century.
• The Almoravid Qoubba, built in the 12th century, is one of the last monuments of Almoravid culture.
• The Sa'didi tombs date back to the time of the great Sultan Ahmed El Mansour (1578-1603).
• The Marrakech Museum, built at the end of the 19th century, was restored and transformed into a museum by Omar Benjelloun.
• The Dar Si Saïd museum, this large house was built in the second half of the 19th century by the Minister of War, Si Saïd B. Moussa.
• The Bert Flint Museum, or Tiskiwin House, dates from the early 20th century and has been transformed into a museum dedicated to Moroccan craftsmanship.

• The Ourika valley, 30 km from the ochre town, with its verdant vegetation, is crossed by a river of the same name.
• The Oukaimeden ski resort, about 80 km from Marrakech in the High Atlas, is the only ski resort in Morocco. Take the chairlift and admire the beauty of the High Atlas.
• The Asni Ouirgane valley, around 30 km from Marrakech, offers pleasant moments of relaxation and panoramic views of the region's magnificent landscapes.
• The Toubkal National Park, 70 km south of Marrakech, is a unique structure of exceptional biodiversity, welcoming many visitors who can discover plateaus and cliffs alternating with gorges.
• The Ouzoud waterfalls, 120 km from the city of Marrakech, with a breathtaking view of the natural waterfall basin 100 m below your feet, you can admire the highest waterfalls in Morocco in the midst of lush nature.
• Essaouira, 176 km west of Marrakech, is a Moroccan port city on the Atlantic coast. The island of Mogador, its 18th-century port and beaches ideal for water sports make the province a top tourist destination.
