Marrakech is a city in central Morocco, at the foot of the Atlas Mountains. It is nicknamed the Ochre City in reference to the red color of most of its buildings and houses.
The city was founded in 1071 by Youssef Ben Tachfine, head of the Berber Almoravid Empire. Marrakech is Morocco's 3rd largest city, after Casablanca, Rabat and Fez.

Marrakech is a pearl polished by history and a taste for hospitality. The city is divided into two distinct parts: the Medina or historic town, and the new town.

• Place Jamâa El Fna is a famous public square in the southwest of Marrakech's medina. The lively heart of the city, it's a traditional, popular and lively place that attracts more and more visitors every year.
• The Koutoubia Mosque, a religious edifice built in the 12th century.
• El Mouassine Mosque, a religious edifice built in the 12th century.
• The Medersa Ben Youssef, a historic monument of Islamic art built in the 16th century.
• The Almoravid Qoubba, built in the 12th century, is one of the last monuments of Almoravid culture.
• The Saadian Tombs date back to the time of the great Sultan Ahmed El Mansour (1578-1603).
• The Musée de Marrakech, a house built in the late 19th century, was restored and turned into a museum by Omar-Benjelloun.
• Dar Si Saïd Museum, This grand residence was built in the second half of the 19th century by the Minister of War, Si Saïd B. Moussa.
• The Bert Flint Museum, or Tiskiwin House, This early 20th-century museum has become a showcase for Moroccan craftsmanship.
